Who Knew?![Google Reader has introduced some social features in the past couple of days - they are certainly interesting, and I’m sure some people are really enjoying them. But this little icon that’s at the top of seemingly almost every post, showing how many users “liked” that post, is incredibly annoying and frustrating. I use Google Reader to subscribe to news and opinions from a variety of different sources - some I agree with, and others I think are full of shit. Having a popularity badge at the top of every post presents an obstruction to viewing the writing objectively.
I usually view the site with Helvetireader, so I didn’t notice the badge until today… but if they don’t introduce a way to opt-out of the social features I guess I’m going to have to change feed readers.
